“The Hamburg Conference: Actions for Climate Induced Migration”, to be be held in Hamburg on July 16th -18th 2013

The Climate Service Center and the University of Hamburg are jointly organizing The Hamburg Conference: Actions for Climate Induced Migration”, to be be held in Hamburg on July 16th -18th 2013. Read more at: http://www.climate-service-center.de/035152/index_0035152.html.de

The conference aims at bringing together top scientists, experts, practitioners and decision-makers to share evidence-based knowledge and experiences on Climate-Induced Migration in order to discuss the state-of-the-art, collect best practices, and set the future agenda in the field. The focus of the conference is on actions, and we seek to promote the scientific debate around Climate-Induced Migration as well to increase the participation, exchange of knowledge and capacity building between the Global South and the North.

The four thematic streams of The Hamburg Conference are:
• Climate-Induced Migration and Urbanization
• Climate-Induced Migration and Rural Livelihoods
• Climate-Induced Migration and Rapid Onset Extreme Events
• Climate-Induced Migration and Slow Onset Extreme Events

Deadline for abstracts: 15 March 2013. The author of the abstract (or one lead author in the case of co-authors) will be notified directly by end of April 2013.

Abstracts must be in English and should not exceed 250 words in length. Papers are expected to be focused on Climate-Induced Migration and should be associated with one of the four themes of the conference, with particular emphasis on actions to be taken. All abstracts submitted will be evaluated by the Conference Scientific Board. Some papers submitted at the conference will be selected for publication.
