This is a proud moment for Peace Child International to announce that the 7th World Youth Congress will be for the first time in Sub-Saharan Africa; the first to schedule a High Level Segment where the young delegates will discuss their ideas directly with Heads of State and Agency leaders; the first to be organised in partnership with a Minister for Youth Employment, and therefore, the first to focus directly on solving the problem of youth unemployment which will be discussed as part of the The Conakry Commitment: charting a path to full youth employment by 2030.
Peace Child International and the Ministry for Youth and Youth Employment of the Republic of Guinea are proud to announce the 7th World Youth Congress - incorporating the 2nd International Youth Job Creation Summit and the Green Economy Eco-Business Innovations Challenge (GEEBIZ). To be hosted in Conakry, Guinea, from 11-21 November 2014, it will be the first World Youth Congress in Sub-Saharan Africa, the first to host a High Level segment between youth and government ministers and donor agency leaders and the first to focus on the youth unemployment crisis. Age Criteria: The main age for youth delegates is 18 to 35 years. Anyone born before 11th November 1979 is NOT eligible; 15-18 year olds are eligible (born before 11th November 1999) IF they are exceptional, and if they come with chaperones at their own expense. Guinea is one of the most vibrant, self-confident African countries - one with fantastic entrepreneurs, and one whose current leadership seeks to make it the most transparent, most green, and the most youth-friendly country in Africa. It has some of Africa's most astonishing and beautiful scenery, too. Please also note that Guinea is currently experiencing an outbreak of Ebola. While the government and the UN expect to have the disease under control long before our Congress in November, please know that Peace Child International and the Minister will not invite young people to the Congress until they both confirm the country is 100% Ebola-free. If it is not Ebola-free by November, the Congress will be postponed.
